Where Community Ideas Become Collective Action
The Far South Community Action Council (FSCAC) is powered by the voices, skills, and commitment of our members. To ensure our work is focused, organized, and effective, we operate through subcommittees — smaller working groups that turn community priorities into real results for our schools.
Each subcommittee focuses on a key area of our Strategic Education Plan (SEP) — helping us connect families, educators, and community partners to build stronger schools across Chicago’s Far South Side.
Monitors local, state, and federal education policies that impact Chicago Public Schools. Advocates for equitable funding, transparency, and accountability in decision-making. Develops position statements and policy recommendations that reflect community priorities.

Builds relationships with businesses, faith-based partners, and philanthropic organizations. Identifies funding, in-kind support, and partnership opportunities to sustain community events and initiatives.
Recruits, welcomes, and retains active members. Creates opportunities for leadership development, recognition, and participation across all subcommittees. Works to ensure representation from every community within the Far South region.
