The Far South Community Action Council (FSCAC) operates under adopted by-laws that guide our leadership, meetings, and decision-making processes. These by-laws reflect our commitment to transparency, accountability, and community-driven advocacy for quality public education on Chicago’s Far South Side.
Our by-laws outline how members are selected, how officers are elected, how meetings are conducted, and how decisions are made to support our schools and families.

Membership
Any parent, community member, or stakeholder who supports improving Far South Side schools can join. Membership is open and inclusive.
Officers
The Council elects officers such as Chair, Co-Chair, Secretary, Parliamentarian, and Treasurer every two years. These leaders help organize meetings and move community priorities forward.
Meetings
General meetings are open to the public and held monthly. Members and community guests are welcome to attend and share input.
Committees
Subcommittees focus on specific issues like Education, Outreach, or Youth Engagement. Members can join any committee that matches their interests.
Decision-Making
Major decisions are made by a majority vote during official meetings where a quorum (minimum number of members present) is met.
Amendments
Changes to the by-laws must be proposed in writing and approved by members. Transparency and fairness guide every update.
